P.Cahill & Company was established in 1977 and Padraic’s first employee is still with the firm thirty-six years on. Padraic’s original client was Martin A. McAndrew, a popular businessman from the town who ran a successful concrete products business amongst other ventures.
P. Cahill & Company’s first permanent premises was at Walsh Street in Ballina. The firm was a pioneer in the use of technology, introducing computerized accounts producion in early 1980.
Growth
After a period of consolidation the firm began to expand rapidly with the addition of Pauric Trautt to the staff.
Pauric’s drive and initiative brought a new impetus to the firm and his already extensive client portfolio necessitated more staff hires and a larger premises. Shortly after making the move to Pound Street, P.Cahill & Company became Cahill and Trautt.
The new partnership continued to go from strength to strength. Peter Dooley was hired to help manage an increasingly large and varied client base, and a staff that was to grow to number fifteen employees including seven qualified accountants.

Once again the company found itself in a situation where it had outgrown its current premises.
