Strokestown Park House is an 18th century estate house, and is now considered one of the finest houses of its era in Ireland and now houses Ireland’s Famine Museum which hosts 60,000 visitors annually. 




A number of annual events take place in Strokestown including Strokestown Agricultural Show, Feile Frank Mc Gann and the Strokestown International Poetry Festival which is now well established as one of the leading literary festivals in Ireland.  Close by are Arigna Mines, Lough Key Forest Park, Castlecoote House and King House Boyle.  The town of Strokestown is served by the Percy French Hotel, which is the only hotel located in the town.
